I can't count the books that have impacted my walk with God. The Bible is the only pure, inspired word of God; but many other authors have contributed greatly to my spiritual growth. I'm a believer in daily Bible reading, and also in reading a steady stream of faith-building, insightful books. They can be invaluable in helping us apply the Bible's principles to our lives.
Biographies of great Christians inspire us to keep going. Many valuable, Biblically-based self-help books facilitate healing of our various issues. I've often dashed to my bookshelf for my favorite parenting books, when I've needed direction for new stages and developments with my children. The Christian classics deserve a place in every believer's library, providing a strong foundation for faith; and who hasn't been blessed and uplifted by a timely word from a well-written devotional?
